As we move into the spring and summer months we look forward to the warmer weather, upcoming vacations and warm summer nights. Here in the shop we are excited about these things as well, but what we are really excited about is the wedding season. Love must be in the air in the summer, surveys say that 35% of couples get married between the months of May and August. This means that odds are you guys will be attending a wedding or two this summer. At UWM Men’s Shop we are here to help. Whether you are the groom trying to keep up with your beautiful bride, a gentleman in the wedding party or just an attendee we got you covered.

Groom

As the groom, your attire should be appropriate for your venue and match with the overall vibe of your wedding. If your wedding is in the daytime or outdoors, you can wear something more casual, fabrics such as linen, cotton or seersucker. For an evening affair in a ballroom or hotel, go with a darker, well-tailored suit or tux. Be sure to dress for your body type. Keep in mind that even the most expensive suit or tux will look and feel awful if it doesn't fit right. You want to be able to enjoy your wedding day, worrying about fit issues or being uncomfortable will put a damper on the occasion . Having your suit tailored to fit perfectly is a no brainer.

Groomsmen

Traditionally, groomsmen wear attire that's similar to the groom. If the groom isn't planning for the guys in the wedding party to wear the exact same suit or tux, make sure that their outfits match in style and feel with the groom. Aim to pair the groomsmens style to the bridesmaids, if the bridesmaids have a vintage vibe, have the guys dressed to match.

Attendee

If you are just attending the wedding, it is a good idea to look at the invite to see if where the wedding is taking place as well as to see if there is a specific dress code requested. You don’t want to be overdressed and upstage the groom or drawing attention away from the bride. These days, A semi-formal dress code is most common and unless the invite says otherwise is a safe bet. A sport coat and slacks with a button down shirt with a tie or just open collar is a classic look for most occasions.

If the wedding is more of a black tie affair, the semi-formal look will not work. In most black tie situations a tuxedo is your best bet however a dark suit will also work. A white button down dress shirt and black bow tie or necktie is best practice. If you are unsure about the dress code, wear a nice fitting suit and a button down shirt with a tie. If you arrive and find you are overdressed you can take off the suit jacket and tie and still look great.
